The marble and stone "Hall of Heroes" features a 2.3 meter (7.5 feet) high and 92-meter (300 feet) long marble frieze. The frieze depicts scenes of historical significance to the Afrikaners. The domed ceiling has a hole that lets a ray of sunlight shine through the round opening in the middle of the hall onto the cenotaph below the hall. This ray of light occurs every year on December 16, on the anniversary of the Blood River Battle.
