The cape buffalo is a grumpy relative of the more docile Asian water buffalo. They are considered the most dangerous mammal in Africa. Outside a well-armed "great hunter," healthy, adult Cape Buffalo have no natural enemies. Lions usually only bother sick, old or very young buffalo.
