The Perlan's five four-story-tall reservoirs store geothermally heated water for heating the buildings in the city. In the winter, some this water is used to heat roads and sidewalks to keep them free of ice and snow.

Die fünf Wassertanks des Perlan versorgen die Gebäde der Stadt mit Erdwärme. Im Winter ersetzt dieses Wasser teilweise auch den Winterdienst indem es Straßen und Gehwege wärmt.

The inside of the Perlan features a geyser-fountain that shoots water up 4-stories high every few minutes.
